*****I just remembered that we’ll be SUPER-busy this week with a vacation to visit family in Laurel (Mississippi)…so, you get TWO posts tonight to hold you over. ***

Oh….the drama in our house this weekend!  Allie has suddenly become very “possessive” of her toys….and, as a result, she and Nutmeg tend to get into quite a few fights.  As evidence….lets review the “battle of the stuffed dog”.

This is a dog that Allie got a Build-a-Bear.  Actually, it was the FIRST toy that she ever picked out at Build-a-bear.  So, she’s pretty in love with it.  It even barks when you squeeze it’s paw.  Thing is….Nutmeg went the first 5 years of her life with the understanding that any stuffed toys that make noise are automatically CHEW TOYS.  So, the dog seems to be having a hard time separating HER toys from ALLIE’s toys….notice her sneaking up on the stuffed dog in the left hand corner of this picture…

Once Nutmeg starts “playing” with the stuffed dog…making it bark….and going for it’s jugular….Allie notices and FREAKS out.  She will immediatly go over to the dog to put a stop to the “attack”.

Nutmeg usually comes out victorious in these battles, since she is stronger than Allie….

After crying her head off for a while, Allie will whimper next to Nutmeg until either Brad or I save her toy from the dog….

Then, Allie will love on her stuffed dog for a grand total of 30 SECONDS before losing interest until Nutmeg tries to get it again.

Really, though….can we really BLAME Nutmeg for this situation?  She’s really just copying what Allie does…

She’s a Lady!

Just days after I made a post bragging about how much of a “lady” our little Allie is….I walk into the living room to discover THIS:

Seriously?  Seriously, Allie?  You are honestly going to start this NOW?  I thought that was a hurdle we’d have to clear when you were 3 or 4….but not at 17 months!  What’s more….is she seems to be amused by it!

Oh yeah, you’re hilarious!!!  Actually, it WAS kinda funny the first time we saw it.  But, that humor quickly passed when we took her out to eat…and she couldn’t stop putting her finger in her nose.  We’re trying all the tricks in the book to get her to stop….but so far….it’s just too tempting for her to even THINK about putting her fingers anywhere else…..except, of course, for my WALLS.

Daddy’s Girls

Brad has a little tradition of making breakfast for “his girls” every Sunday morning.  Typically, it involves eggs and pancakes, and some sort of breakfast meat….always resulting in full bellies and a huge mess in the kitchen.  Father’s day was no different.  Oh, trust me, I offered to make breakfast, but Brad insisted that pancakes where “his thing” and told me to “back off”.  Who am I to fight for more work? So, it was “Daddy Pancakes” for breakfast on Father’s Day!  This time…he added fresh blueberries to them…and they were incredible…albeit, messy.  Here’s Allie getting started on her “Daddy Pancakes”…

Of course, it didn’t take long before we went from “sweet clean baby” to “messy happy baby”….

But, even the cutest….messiest….baby….is still a “lady” at heart.  I didn’t even notice this when I was taking the picture, but it caught my eye as I thumbed through all of Sunday’s photos….Allie holds up her pinkie finger when she drinks from a cup!!  What a Southern Belle!

Come to think of it, she’s been doing a lot of “girlie” things lately.  She LOVES for me to pretend to put makeup on her (blush and powder….PRETEND….I’ll have no ‘pageant girls’ in this house!).  She even likes to bat her eyes at us…

…and, whenever I allow her to go into our bathroom….the first thing she heads for is always the make-up mirror….too bad she doesn’t realize that the “magnify side” makes her head look HUGE…
